I m halfway though sheeting the roof of my shipping container shop and already need to redo some of it.
Osb3 for shed roof.
Osb3 is just as good as regular shuttering ply.
Oriented strand board isn t plywood nor is it a type of particleboard fiberboard or wafer board and although it is a newcomer to a plywood.
Up until 2000 plywood held the majority of the market for wall roof and floor sheathing when it was surpassed by osb which as of 2018 held about 75 of the market share.
If there s a will there s always a way.
I roofed my stable with 11mm sheets covered with cheap shed kennel felt three years ago.
Bitumen paint is no different to felting it for shed roofs.
Lay sheets in rows with the long edge horizontal to the roof bottom.
One point that i found interesting was that the national house building council nhbc only permit the use of osb3 for sheathing to walls floors and roofs.
Osb 3 is suitable for external use is fully structural whereas much plywood isnt despite what people think.
Just remember to cover your fixing screws with it after or water will find its way in via screw fixings.
It wont delaminate if it gets wet its cheaper.
The minimum osb panel size is 24 inches in any direction and each sheet end must rest on a rafter.
Can oriented strand board osb be used for roofing.
Provide a 1 8 inch gap.
There are pressure treated grades marine grades that can be used in water fine hardwood.
I presume that this is as a result of poor experience with using osb2.
So long water or sunlight doesn t make direct contact it ll be fine.
Still as good as day 1.
